Celebrate Mom with Sloane Tea at The AGO

Mother’s Day is just around the corner, and what better way to cheers to all of the incredible women in your life than with afternoon tea and art! Sloane Tea is thrilled to be a part of The Art Gallery of Ontario’s stunning afternoon tea service. A member’s only experience held in the AGO’s historical Grange Room (The Norma Ridley Members’ Lounge) with seatings every weekend at 12pm and 2pm. The Grange Room is the oldest standing brick home in the country, even older than Canada itself! Donated to the AGO by the Boulton’s, a prominent Canadian family, it exudes old world charm and is the perfect backdrop for tea time, an old world tradition in itself.

The afternoon tea program features a selection of Sloane Tea signature blends along with three bespoke blends carefully crafted exclusively for The AGO. Not only can you sip your favourite Sloane tea, but you can also savour them in several tea-infused items on the menu, like Jasmine Snow Dragon smoked salmon éclairs plated across caviar trimmed devilled eggs, Earl Grey Classic infused shortbread or Masala Chai spiced madeleines!

Whether it's the elegance of the china used for service or the ever evolving and inspired menu, the afternoon tea experience at The AGO is uniquely artful and like no other. It appeals to the lovers of tea and (edible) art!

The AGO also rents out some of their spaces for private events, and we were lucky to host a very special baby shower in The Grange Room a few months ago. Today we’re sharing all the details from our truly gorgeous afternoon spent welcoming the newest member of the Sloane family, baby Dante Valentin!

Fitted with lush florals from Blush and Bloom and a custom 3 tiered Earl Grey Classic infused blackberry vanilla sponge cake with buttercream frosting by Nadia and Co. (topped with delicate handmade sugar flowers and golden elephants wearing sugar flower crowns no less), Sloane’s Founder Hoda Paripoush, put together a truly magical event filled with talented, intelligent women and divine details on every surface. When the day was done, each attendee received a mini tea caddy and custom hand piped cookies by local cookie artist Hello Baked, topped with the signature gold Sloane elephant emblem - a perfect pairing for a perfect afternoon. Photographer and friend Gillian Gillespie of Sounds Like Yellow Photography captured the set up so delightfully that we simply had to share some of our favourite details here, just in time for Mother’s Day!
